FOMO (acronym for the English expression Fear of missing out), is the fear of being cut off from everything and of not living up to others’ lives. For the NextGen Community, FOMO is instead the desire not to stop dreaming, despite everything.

FOMO is a photo-issue that, through its images, tells the stories of children and adolescents supported by UNICEF’s programs.
Issue No. 1 of the photo reportage, distributed with Vanity Fair in number 13 (on newsstands 20 March 2024), is dedicated to unaccompanied and separated children (UASC), families and young refugees and migrants accommodated in the reception system in Italy.

"When I was in my country, I did not know what it meant to be a foreigner. Now I have learnt how to walk alone, how to be strong and brave."
IDIL

"My great fear is being judged by people because some words are like knives that can kill when they touch a man."

UNICEF's programs in Italy

In 2023, more than 167,000 refugees, asylum seekers and migrants arrived in Italy by sea and land, about 17% of whom were minors. Of these, 12% are unaccompanied and separated minors.

By supporting UNICEF's work, more and more vulnerable children and adolescents can be rescued, protected and enabled to dream of a better future. Wherever they are.

"I overcame my fears because I met amazing people who supported me a lot. First of all, I want to thank my parents (adoptive ed.). I have everything now."
BARRY

"Everywhere there are things you have to fight, things that are not right, but you must always smile, move forward, truly seek love to give it to others, not hate."
